Callum Macrae
Callum Macrae co-founded Outsider Television with Alex Sutherland in 1993.
He has directed, reported, filmed and executive-produced a large number of television
programmes, including some thirty Dispatches, and has made films for BBC’s Panorama,
PBS’s flagship science strand NOVA in the United States, ITV’s Network First, FIVE’s
Stranger than Fiction and many other single docs. He also works in radio and writes
regularly for national newspapers and periodicals.
He has worked across several genres including current affairs, science, history and
business. His output has included investigations, observational documentaries
and closely argued polemics, and he has won several awards including the Royal Television
Society Award, Campaigning Journalist of the Year Award, the Wincott Business Programme
of the Year Award, the Indie Award and other awards and nominations.
Two of his major investigations resulted in multi-million pound government inquiries.
He has acted as script doctor and executive producer for both Channel Four and FIVE,
presented radio programmes and provided editorial consultancy and voiceovers for
UK broadcasters.
